Taylor's Pond

Rick Taylor Taylor's Pond is the new name for our pond behind our 2850 Broadwater Ave Office. The pond is dedicated to Rick Taylor, who passed away on October 14th, after a long courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his wife Mary, and his sons Matt, Chris, and Paul.

Rick looked for good in every person, in every situation, and in every place. Slow to anger, always full of patience for those with needs, Rick kept a positive attitude about everything. He loved people, and his friends came from many walks of life. There was one common thread to Rick's friends-- most of them shared his interests for the world around them.

Rick's life reads like an adventure novel. As an Air Force medic in Vietnam, hanging out of a helicopter on the way in and out of the line of fire, deep sea diving, fly fishing, hunting, looking for invertebrate fossils, studying the great Missoula flood, or gardening, Rick was usually in the great outdoors. An avid reader with a voracious capacity to learn, Rick encouraged reading and learning, and getting outside to everyone around him.

Rick's vision and love of the outdoors, partnered with curiousity, moved Spring Meadow Resources into offering those with disabilities access to recreation. Taylor's Pond and the new Discovery Park project both set a route for SMR to follow for those with disabilities.

Camping, fishing, canoes or paddleboats on the Pond, wildlife and bird watching, and picnicking grew easier each year for those in services--many who had never enjoyed any of these activities.

Rick is survived by his wife Mary, his sons Matt, Chris, and Paul, his grandson Malik, his mother Joyce Stewart, and his sister Kandi Choisser, the many friends who were fortunate to know him and share his life, and those with disabilities whose lives are so much better because he cared.

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; love leaves a memory no one can steal.
