Michael Kakuk - Board Chairman

Mick Leary - Vice President
Mick Leary, on the SMR board since 1999, has spent his entire professional career working in Human Services. He worked at the Montana Developmental Center from 1990-1996, and was employed by Child and Family Services from 1996 to the present. "I have been blessed to have two family members with Downs Syndrome. They (sic) are two of the most amazing people I've ever met and they are the reason I serve on the SMR board". Born and raised in Butte, Leary currently lives in Boulder with his wife, Jeni, and two sons, Kahner and Reilly. A grown son, Tyson, also lives in Boulder.

Kay Gray - Secretary/Treasurer
Kay Gray currently is the Bureau Chief for Local Government Services with the State Department of Administration. A CPA, Gray previously worked for the regional accounting firms AZ & Co and Galusha, Higgins and Galusha. Many years ago she and her husband were group home managers at Waukesha House.

Jim Turner
Jim Turner's parents moved the family with seven children to Helena in 1969, where Jim has lived since. With three brothers who have developmental disabilities (one is served by SMR), Jim has long held an interest in the developmental disability field. Even though he graduated as a mechanical engineer from MSU in 1994, and continues working for one of the world's largest construction and materials corporations, Jim has found the time to hold a position on the SMR board of directors since 2001.

David Kettman
David owns the Ghost Art Gallery on the Walking Mall in Helena, MT. He also worked at Spring Meadow Resources a few years ago. More to follow...

Deb Klein
Married with 1 daughter, Debbra Klein has taught at Helena High School for 27 of the 33 years she has been a teacher. Klein holds Bachelor degrees in Psychology and Special Education, with a Master degree in Special Education. She has served on the board since 2008.

Mike Caplis


Jennifer Charles
For the past 20+ years, Jennifer Charles has worked for Crossman Whitney Griffin Architects (CWG) and has lived in Helena for the past 28 years. She and her husband are parents of two children, the oldest born with cerebral palsy. She was appointed to the board of Spring Meadow Recourses the summer of 2008.

Sue Belcher
Sue Belcher has worked in the Health and Human Services field since the early 1970s. Her positions have included child protective services, probation, and aftercare; social worker/supervisor in an institutional setting; child and adult protective services at the County level using her Master's degree; at Shodair Hospital as a primary therapist; and finally operated a private practice. She finally spent several years at sea as a cook on large tenders before retiring.
